Welcome to my mess. I am still figuring out what the best version of this site looks like, so please stay tuned for a few tweaks.
But I wanted to start by saying:
My friend, I'm so glad you're here.
One of my favorite books in the world is a little novel called Hope was Here by Joan Bauer. The story features a diner called the Welcome Stairways, inspired by the dual stairs that Quakers built outside their homes. This architectural feature was designed to create a feeling of welcome, as visitors from both sides of the street were greeted by a set of stairs that invited them into the house. The Welcome Stairways Diner captures this concept with a blessing, printed on the back of the menu: "Welcome, friend, from whichever way you've come. May God richly bless your journey."
So I speak this over you: "Welcome, friend."
I hope this site blesses you. It is my intention to use this space to share some of the things that have been percolating in my head. I hope to join conversations that are already swirling and start some new ones as well. And whichever way you're coming from, I hope that the words I share here enrich you and make you think: about truth, beauty, hope, and what the heck we're all doing here.
Thank you for visiting my site today. I can't wait to share more with you!
